Os paladinos da Democracia (UE e EUA) lá patrocinaram mais um Golpe de Estado contra um presidente democraticamente eleito (há dois anos atrás). Na Ucrânia é o segundo em menos de dez anos. A democracia é boa, mas só quando produz os resultados que queremos.

Atenção Davi Sf, há aqui uma variável muito importante que despoletou tudo isto que não é só o oportunismo politico dos EUA e da UE, a variável que me refiro é o sentimento nacional ucraniano anti-russo, a Ucrânia mais que qualquer outra ex-província soviética, tem um sentimento contra o centralismo de Moscovo bastante forte, a maioria do povo ucraniano tem um sentimento de injustiça muito grande face a Moscovo, não esquecer que a Ucrânia sofreu e muito mas muito com o "comunismo" Stalin promoveu uma espécie de embargo alimentar na Ucrânia, que provocou uma fome imensa com centenas de milhares de vitimas, alias até milhões. E esse sentimento de injustiça existe no Povo ucraniano e é daquelas questões onde se juntou a fome com a vontade de comer, claro que os ucranianos estão iludidos com a pseudo qualidade de vida da UE, é uma ilusão mas também é compreensível que as tenham.

E, independentemente de algumas aldrabices que por vezes ocorrem cometidas por ambos os lados, quem geralmente tem vencido as eleições são os partidos pró-Rússia (também aproveitando-se da maior divisão do lado contrário).

Basicamente, penso que é seguro afirmar que haverá tensão e "guerra" nos próximos anos porque independentemente do resultado das eleições não haverá consenso.

O antigo primeiro-ministro britânico Tony Blair ofereceu serviços de aconselhamento e gestão de crise ao milionário Rupert Murdoch e a Rebekah Brooks, a propósito do escândalo de escutas ilegais que abalou o Reino Unido e levou mesmo ao encerramento do jornal “News of the World”, que na década passada chegou a ter como alvos preferidos os portugueses Cristiano Ronaldo e José Mourinho.

De acordo com uma mensagem eletrónica tornada pública esta quarta-feira, no tribunal onde está a decorrer o julgamento destas escutas ilegais, Rebekah Brooks, que era a diretora do jornal, foi aconselhada pessoalmente por Tony Blair, nomeadamente, logo no dia a seguir ao fecho da publicação, em julho de 2011.

O antigo primeiro-ministro terá, aliás, oferecido os seus serviços de forma discreta para que Brooks e Murdoch conseguissem ultrapassar da melhor forma toda a pressão criada pela polémica das escutas ilegais a personalidades, as quais haviam originado, ao longo dos anos, diversos exclusivos sensacionalistas do “News of the World”.

As ExxonMobil’s CEO, it’s Rex Tillerson’s job to promote the hydraulic fracturing enabling the recent oil and gas boom, and fight regulatory oversight. The oil company is the biggest natural gas producer in the U.S., relying on the controversial drilling technology to extract it.

The exception is when Tillerson’s $5 million property value might be harmed. Tillerson has joined a lawsuit that cites fracking’s consequences in order to block the construction of a 160-foot water tower next to his and his wife’s Texas home.

Há uns tempos deixei aqui um artigo relativo ao fim da cultura do trigo na Arábia Saudita que levará inevitavelmente ao aumento do preço do cereal. Mais uma prova de que o mundo mudará rapidamente (notícia com ano e meio):

Oil and its derivatives are used for about half of the kingdom’s electricity production, which at peak rates is growing at about 8 percent a year, the bank said today in a an e-mailed report. A quarter of the country’s fuel production is used domestically, more per capita than other industrialized nations, as the cost is subsidized, according to the note.

“If Saudi Arabian oil consumption grows in line with peak power demand, the country could be a net oil importer by 2030,” Heidy Rehman, an analyst at the bank, wrote. The country already consumes all its natural-gas production and plans to develop nuclear power, which pose execution risk amid a lack of available experts, safety issues and cost overruns, Rehman said.

Group-of-20 nations agreed to implement a global standard for automatically exchanging information between tax authorities by the end of 2015, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development said.

The endorsement is a step toward putting an end to “banking secrecy as we know it,” Pascal Saint-Amans, director of the OECD’s center for tax policy and administration, told reporters today in Sydney, where G-20 finance ministers and central bankers are meeting.

A decision on the technology needed and detailed rules on how governments will swap tax data is likely to be made at a G-20 meeting in September, he said. The new standard would see countries automatically exchange information gathered from their financial institutions.

The OECD, supported by 34 member countries including the U.S., U.K., Germany and Japan, is working on plans for a global exchange of information to crack down on tax-avoidance strategies used by companies such as Google Inc., Apple Inc. and Yahoo! Inc. While the group doesn’t have figures to calculate the total cost of overseas tax avoidance, the British Virgin Islands was one of the top five investors in Russia and China, Saint-Amans said. The accumulated profit of U.S. companies held offshore was $2 trillion, he said.

A government commission is to unveil measures aimed at ensuring taxpayers will never again need to bail out Britain's banks, with recommendations that risk splitting the coalition and infuriating the banking sector.

Amid warnings from large banks such as Barclays, HSBC and Standard Chartered that they will leave London if the proposals by Sir John Vickers are too radical, the commission will seek to ringfence savers from riskier banking operations.

The commission has considered the potential impact of its proposals on the City and is expected to counter suggestions that they would encourage banks to move to New York or Hong Kong.

Foi uma bela competição, mas desde logo estranhava-se a falta de público (A comunicação social saia com a desculpa de estar por lá demasiado calor (cerca de 35ºC) e que todos tinham rumado para as ilhas em férias)... de facto foi um agosto quente por lá e não existiu grande interesse dos nativos sobre essa competição.
Para os gregos Agosto é férias, e existiam entre 2/3 milhões de trabalhadores estrangeiros para manterem a máquina turística em funcionamento.

It contained 600,000 euros, about $814,000. Other arms manufacturers eager to make deals came by, too, some guiding him through the ins and outs of international banking and then paying him off with deposits to his overseas accounts.

At the time, Mr. Kantas, a wiry former military officer, did not actually have the authority to decide much of anything on his own. But corruption was so rampant inside the Greek equivalent of the Pentagon that even a man of his relatively modest rank, he testified recently, was able to amass nearly $19 million in just five years on the job.

Greece is “very close” to an agreement with the troika, according to government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou, who was speaking ahead of the resumption of talks between the two sides on Monday afternoon.

Greek government officials are due to begin meetings with troika inspectors in Athens at 4 p.m. The Greek side is hoping to achieve an agreement in principle by the March 10 Eurogroup and to secure the disbursement of 8.8 billion euros in bailout loans by a meeting of eurozone finance ministers due to be held in Athens on April 1.

Among the issues that remain to be settled are the lifting of barriers to competition in several sectors and the reduction of employers’ social security contributions by 3.9 percentage points.

“We are very close to an agreement on both things,” Kedikoglou told Mega TV on Monday morning.

He suggested that the government was ready to make alternative proposals on the issues of fresh milk and non-prescriptions medicines. The troika wants Greece to extend the shelf life of fresh milk and to allow some drugs to be sold in super markets.
