A religião sempre foi é continua a ser um meio para atingir determinado fim por certos grupos manipuladores de massas.

Mas não vale a pena ser ingénuo e pensar que se não existir religiões, vão todos dar - se bem. Basta ver que as grandes guerras da Europa do século xx não tiveram propriamente motivos religiosos e foram as mais mortíferas da história ( mais do que qualquer guerra religiosa) .
As pessoas têm necessidade de pertencer a um grupo, basta ver o comunismo, que tanta morte e destruição causaram, há gente fanática que levam os ensinamentos do mesmo a letra. Para mim, vale zero, autênticas histórias da carochinha, mas para quem tenha algum tipo de perturbação e levar aquilo a letra, essa gente pode tornar - se perigosa, tal como em qualquer religião.

O segredo é que cada vez as pessoas tenham mais acesso à cultura e conhecimento, de modo a serem livres e rejeitem qualquer filosofia violenta e totalitária seja política ou religiosa.

Não foi o que fiz? Se escrevi mentiras apontem-nas. 'Pensar' sem mostrar factos é que não. E especialmente no que concerne ao Islão.

Nas religiões não é excepção. O Antigo Testamento (livro sagrado que melhor conheço), por exemplo, está pejado de violência. Os católicos a sério, dão como 'desculpa' que o Antigo Testamento é um conjunto de alegorias e que o que vale é o Novo.

Nas sociedades desenvolvidas de hoje em dia a violência e a morte (funerárias, hospitais...) está muito compartimentalizada. Já se formos para as zonas tribais/rurais de países mais pobres pouca coisa mudou. No Antigo Testamento há muita violência, sem dúvida. O que é 'natural' tendo em conta a altura em que foi. Mas mesmo lá não houve disseminação da religião. O que se aborda repetidamente é a luta do povo hebreu e a advertência para não se adotar ídolos/falsas religiões.

Quanto a impérios e bárbaros, a história repete-se. Os romanos tinham os germanos, os americanos têm os terroristas do Médio Oriente. Só que não acredito que os romanos manipulassem tanto os bárbaros tendo em conta determinados objetivos.

Assumindo que tudo o que aconteceu vai voltar a acontecer de forma semelhante mais cedo ou mais tarde, os impérios vão sempre cair primeiro que os bárbaros. A idade das trevas veio depois do império romano ter caído. Quando o império americano cair vai-se entrar num período de guerra muito muito mau.

@Orion Eu disse que mentiste? As religiões não são o que os seus livros sagrados proclamam. São os que os seus crentes fizerem delas. Grande parte dos muçulmanos têm tanto apego à religião quanto os católicos. Consideram-se muçulmanos mas não ligam peva às 'regras' da mesma forma que os católicos assim se identificam mas depois têm sexo antes do casamento, usam métodos contraceptivos, divorciam-se, etc. Grande parte dos muçulmanos que conheço bebem álcool, não fazem as 5 orações recomendadas, etc.

In the more than two years since the N.S.A.’s data collection programs became known to the public, the intelligence community has failed to show that the phone program has thwarted a terrorist attack. Yet for years intelligence officials and members of Congress repeatedly misled the public by claiming that it was effective.

Enquanto isso o Brasil está-se a afundar rapidamente. O Canadá está em recessão. A Austrália não está muito longe. 3 mil milhões de barris de petróleo a mais (e isto não incluindo a produção máxima do Irão e o aumento da produção do Iraque). O QE deve aumentar na Europa também em Dezembro. Voltando aos países onde já foi feito o QE. Inglaterra não tem pressa em mexer nas taxas de juro. O Japão está em recessão. Os EUA continuam a ter uma inflação baixa:

Deve haver muita apreensão nos bancos europeus. Estão apenas emprestados 3 biliões (não milhares de milhões) de euros aos mercados emergentes.

The weapons are also bought on the black market, where European-made guns are available as well, sometimes those supplied to the Kurdish Peshmerga or the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

“They told me,’Even if we don’t conquer these weapons, we can buy them, because everything has a price. Most of our ammunition we get from the Free Syrian Army.’”

This is the ammunition that Americans supplied to the FSA, which is now not important, or those groups which said they belong to the FSA, Todenhofer said.

“I cannot judge the Russian army but I can judge the Western armies. The American Marines and special forces have no chance in a fight against guerilla fighters, because these fighters are ready to die, and Americans Marines do not want to die,” Todenhofer said.

To create real problems for ISIS, the West should do several things: stop the delivery of weapons, ammunition and money from the Gulf monarchies and close the Turkish border used to transit new fighters to ISIS, Todenhofer said, recalling how easy it was to cross the Syrian-Turkish border.

The third important thing is promoting reconciliation between Shia and Sunnis in Iraq, Syria and Turkey, because ISIS finds support among those dissatisfied with the governments and existing state of things.

Vários economistas europeus fizeram um manifesto, em que, entre outras coisas, afirmam que os fatores que deram origem a crise, estão longe de ter terminado.

Não vale a pena o PS, convertido ao marxismo - leninismo , afirmar que a crise terminou, pois a realidade é implacável e desmente essas tretas que eles dizem.
Também gostava de saber quanto vai custar ao país a brincadeira dos estalinistas de reverter as privatizações e outros delírios do género.
Só num país como Portugal e que um grupelho de 8 % e que dita leis.
Para quando um Portugal verdadeiramente democrático, sem estes partidos tóxicos?

Não tenho conhecimento de qualquer ligação credível da Mossad com os ataques. Mas por acaso isso foi abordado lá em Israel. Este país só teria a ganhar algo se o alvo fosse o Assad. Para isso o PM já tem ido à Rússia. Claro que, oportunista como é, aproveita a situação para justificar as suas ações (que contribuem ativamente para o conflito).

Dias depois da solidariedade coletiva, o realismo volta. Os turcos reúnem de emergência. O Assad está a ganhar. É preciso mandar mais terroristas lutadores pela liberdade.

Não sei se já publiquei isto mas aquando da intervenção dissimulada da Rússia na Ucrânia (felizmente foi esse o desfecho) muito se falou na altura se no fim da URSS a OTAN tinha prometido, ou não, que não se ia expandir para este. A resposta é... sim:

But Jack Matlock, the US ambassador in Moscow at the time, has said in the past that Moscow was given a "clear commitment." Hans-Dietrich Genscher, the German foreign minister in 1990, says this was precisely not the case.

After speaking with many of those involved and examining previously classified British and German documents in detail, SPIEGEL has concluded that there was no doubt that the West did everything it could to give the Soviets the impression that NATO membership was out of the question for countries like Poland, Hungary or Czechoslovakia.

On Feb. 10, 1990, between 4 and 6:30 p.m., Genscher spoke with Shevardnadze. According to the German record of the conversation, which was only recently declassified, Genscher said: "We are aware that NATO membership for a unified Germany raises complicated questions. For us, however, one thing is certain: NATO will not expand to the east." And because the conversion revolved mainly around East Germany, Genscher added explicitly: "As far as the non-expansion of NATO is concerned, this also applies in general."

Shevardnadze replied that he believed "everything the minister (Genscher) said."

Noutro assunto, a sociologia nunca muda. Ataques contra muçulmanos sobem 300% no RU. Ainda na sociologia e relativamente à integração dos refugiados deixo uma pergunta para refletir (que alguns podem considerar 'xenófoba' por um qualquer motivo)... Qual é a diferença entre alguém criticar publicamente Jesus no país europeu tendencialmente secular e alguém criticar publicamente Maomé num país muçulmano onde o secularismo é tendencialmente reduzido? Adiciono também que as pessoas, no seu geral, não são completamente indissociáveis da sua cultura.

“Some of them are here recruiting young people. They give them wrong information about what they’ll find there [in Syria] and they’re trying to send them to hell. When they go there, they find out the truth by themselves,” Jamal Saleh Momenah, the director of the Parc du Cinquantenaire mosque, the largest in the Belgian capital, told EUobserver.

“The older generation [of Belgian Muslims] is more lucky than this generation. When they came, everything was available. They found good opportunities here. But for the new generation, its difficult to find a job, to get good healthcare. It’s because of the economic situation in Europe. Now, nothing is like it was. Everything’s changed in Europe.”

According to 2012 figures, the highest levels of youth unemployment (over 40% in parts of Molenbeek) overlap with the Moroccan and Turkish quarters.
